Rouenneries from French General

Yes we have been having a little break from blogging. We just had a bit to catch up on and and Craft & Quilt Fair to attend.

Here is a sneak peak at some of the fabrics from one of the new ranges in store. It is causing quite a bit of interest.

NATIVE BIRDS AND FLOWERS OF AUSTRALIA

Congratulations Julia!

Just had to share with you a completed quilt from our Block of the Month Native Birds and Flowers of Australia. Julia sent the photos in some time ago, and I meant to post to our Blog but better late than never. We have had several customers come in to show their completed 28 block quilt and they are all great. The programme has finished, however, we still have some of the pattern packs available. Visit our website www.patches.com.au.

SUPER AUSSIE AUGUST 2009

As the owner of an Australian patchwork shop I am very passionate about supporting our 'homegrown' tutors and after venturing overseas I believe we have some great tutors here who have a lot of patchwork knowledge to share.

That is why here at Patches Indooroopilly we have put together our

SUPER AUSSIE AUGUST 2009.
We have on offer a month of classes from some great Aussie tutors -
LORRAINE CARTHEW - Impressionist Landscapes
SUE DENNIS - Wholly Holes
HELEN GODDEN - Liberation from the Ditch & Arty Farty Sunflowers
PAM HILL - Fine Hand Quilting & Trapunto & Traditional Double Wedding Ring
AND JAN PHILLIPS - What A Beauty

along with our regulars

CHRISTINE COHRS, ROBYN MALLETT, CHERYL DOBLO AND LYNNE DONE.

Please browse our website to view detailed info on what the girls have to offer.

SHOP HOP 2009

It has been a little while since I have found time to post and let you know what we have been up to here at Patches Indooroopilly. Shop Hop 2009 has commenced. Once again patchworkers and quilters collect passports and visit eight of South East Queensland's patchwork shops. This is a different group of shops and we are one of two lucky shops that get to be in both the Quilters Trail and Shop Hop - twice as much work but twice as much fun!

Last Friday Jenny and the girls from Patches headed off on one of the South bound buses. From all reports the 'giggling' started upon departure and could still be heard as they headed back into Patches at 5.00pm in the afternoon. These girls are now in the running to win $1,000 of patchwork goodies!

PITTSBURGH 2009

OK so I am a little late in posting about this exciting event in the life of a patchwork store owner, but I just had to play catch up for a week. Pittsburgh is the city of bridges and full of history - a great place to explore.

Market was very exciting! The organisers are brilliant. Eveything went like clockwork. I thoroughly enjoyed the pre market shop tours and the post market tour into the Amish community in Ohio. I met up with shop owners from all over the world, Canada, Austria, lots from the US, our New Zealand neighbours were there, everybody involved in the industry is really friendly and welcoming.

As you make your way through a day of information packed Schoolhouse sessions you get glimpses of the wholesalers setting up on the floor below. This picture is one side of the trade show. We only made our way through two thirds of the stands on our first day and I didn't look at any of the new fabrics!
